ABSTRACT: This study Investigated the Benefits of Early Childhood Education on Indigenous Knowledge Systems. The objectives of this study were to: (1) assess the impact of early childhood education (ECE) programs on preserving and promoting indigenous knowledge systems among young children, (2) explore the educational approaches used to incorporate indigenous knowledge into ECE curricula, and (3) determine the long-term benefits of indigenous knowledge education on cultural preservation. A survey research design was justified to collect detailed data from educators, parents, and community members about their experiences with indigenous knowledge integration in ECE settings. A sample size of 160 participants, including preschool teachers, parents, and community elders, was selected using purposive sampling to ensure representation from indigenous communities across Ogun State, Nigeria. The case study was conducted in early childhood education centers known for their commitment to preserving local cultures and traditions. Findings revealed that ECE programs effectively promoted awareness and appreciation of indigenous knowledge systems among children, contributing to cultural identity and community cohesion. It is recommended that early childhood education centers collaborate closely with local communities to integrate indigenous knowledge into curricula and ensure its ongoing preservation.
